Newly conceived ‘British Watchmakers’ Day’ is set for Saturday 9th March 2024, at the Lindley Hall, Royal Horticultural Halls and will showcase the best work of its trade members.
Special Edition watches, created exclusively for the event are set to be revealed from exhibiting brands, including Roger W. Smith OBE. Widely acknowledged as the world’s finest watchmaker, he is building one of his ultra rare Series 1 watches especially for British Watchmakers’ Day.
Alliance CEO, Alistair Audsley said: “There has been a quiet renaissance in British watchmaking over the last decade and we wanted our first live event to make a real statement about our sector. Such a statement begins with the location and so we’re delighted to be able to host British Watchmakers’ Day at the Lindley Hall, which offers a unique blend of scale, heritage and prestige.”
Over 40 makers have confirmed their attendance with more in the pipeline including Accurist, Alkin, Arken, Backes&Strauss, Beaucroft, Brooklands, Christopher Ward, Clemence, Duckworth Prestex, Elliot Brown, Escudo, Farer, Fears, Great British Watch Company, Helicon, IOTA, Isotope, MHD, Mr.Jones, Nomadic, Omologato, Pinion, Pompeak, Schofield, Shoreham, Sidereus, Studio Underd0g, Tesouro, Vertex, William Wood and Zero West.
Venue sales executive, Royal Horticultural Halls, Diane Worcester said: “this is a very exciting exhibition for watchmakers and collectors. With the venue’s natural light from the glass vaulted roof the watches will be showcased in the best possible way.”
Founded in 2020 the Alliance was created to give a voice to its members with the current resurgence in British watch making and to guide the new energy in this sector. The Government’s trade data cites that the export of British watch, clock and related parts has tripled in growth from £200M to £800M over the last 13 years.
Production company Clownfish has been enrolled to provide stands and digital screens for this historic event.
